Anthropic wants Australia to permit AI training on copyrighted work unless creators object

Anthropic asked Prime Minister Albanese's government to let AI systems learn from copyrighted material by default, unless owners opt out. The company says this would give legal clarity after Canberra rejected a wide text-and-data-mining exception, which would have allowed bulk copying for analysis. Canberra has not accepted the proposal.
