Google to test AI computing in orbit Oct. 1
Google plans to launch its first Suncatcher test satellite Oct. 1, 2026, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, Ars Technica and The New York Times reported. It will test running AI calculations in orbit, a step toward data centers in space. I read this as a cheap trial, not a business launch.
