Google to launch first Suncatcher AI satellite Oct. 1 on SpaceX Falcon 9
Google is scheduled to launch its first Suncatcher test satellite Oct. 1, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, Ars Technica and The New York Times reported. The flight will test orbital AI computing as a possible path to space-based data centers. I see it as a low-cost technology check, not a commercial rollout.
