94-Year-Old Lawyer Detained at Labour Conference Over Banned Group

Police detained Margaret Owen, 94, a Jewish human rights lawyer given an OBE — an honour — in 2013, at a rally outside Labour's conference in Liverpool. It was over backing Palestine Action, a protest group banned as a terrorist organisation under UK law in July 2025. In London she carried a sign: 'I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.'
