Paris Court Sentences 13 Over Deadly 2021 Channel Crossing

A Paris court on Sept. 30, 2026, sentenced 13 men to up to 10 years in prison over the November 2021 Channel crossing that killed 31 migrants, mostly Iraqi Kurds. Six were convicted of involuntary homicide, causing death by negligence, and seven of lesser charges. Prosecutors said the overcrowded boat was unfit for open sea. One defendant was acquitted.
