UK-France small-boat returns pilot to end 1 October

The UK-France 'one in, one out' pilot — Britain returns boat arrivals to France for asylum seekers in exchange — is expected to end 1 October, UK officials say. Talks stalled over French calls for an EU-wide deal and limits on numbers. Those detained will be flown out within weeks. It returned over 1,400 people since September 2025.
