New York City doubles artist grants to US$10,000

New York City doubled direct grants for individual artists to US$10,000, ARTnews reported on 2 October 2026. The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, described by City Hall as the country's largest municipal funder of culture, is led by Commissioner Diya Vij. The payments go to artists, not arts groups.
