UK-France boat swap deal expected to end

Britain’s one-for-one swap with France for Channel crossings in small boats is expected to end 1 October, UK officials say. Britain returned new arrivals while accepting others. Talks stalled because France wants a Europe-wide agreement and opposes bigger swaps. Those held will still be flown out within weeks. Over 1,400 boat arrivals were returned since September 2025.
