
US to Exit Last Iraq Bases by Sept. 30
U.S. troops will leave their final bases in Iraq by Sept. 30, 2026, ending nearly 20 years of military presence there. A few hundred advisers will stay in the north, based at Erbil airbase to support Operation Inherent Resolve, the coalition fighting the ISIL militant group. Baghdad says the relationship will now focus on economic cooperation.
