Government keeps ban on PEN switching in wiring rules

The Government has reinstated the ban on PEN switching, MBIE has confirmed. PEN switching is a wiring method that controls the combined protective earth and neutral wire. Energy Minister Simon Watts said he was taking feedback seriously. It follows warnings from the Electrical Inspectors Association that removal could leave systems lethal. MBIE said further work will continue.
