10-year Treasury yield breaks above 5.2%

CNBC reported the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield rose nearly 3 basis points — hundredths of a percent — to 5.209% on September 28, 2026, topping 5.2%. That yield is what the government pays to borrow for 10 years. Since it helps set mortgages and business loans, I think borrowing stays expensive if this holds.
