AMD to Buy World Labs, Maker of 3D World Models, for $8.2 Billion

AMD will acquire World Labs for $8.2 billion, with the deal expected to close before the end of 2026 pending regulatory approval. Founded in 2024 by Stanford computer science professor Fei-Fei Li, World Labs builds multimodal world models — AI systems that create explorable 3D scenes from text, images, video, or 3D layouts.
