AMD to Buy Startup That Creates Walk-Through 3D Worlds for $8.2 Billion

AMD will buy World Labs for $8.2 billion, with the purchase expected to finish before the end of 2026 if regulators approve. Started in 2024 by Stanford computer science professor Fei-Fei Li, World Labs makes AI software that builds walk-through 3D places, like in a video game, from written descriptions, photos, video, or simple 3D plans.
