Rasoulof and O Mipo to receive Kurosawa Akira Award at 39th Tokyo festival

Iranian film-maker Mohammad Rasoulof and Japanese director O Mipo will receive the Kurosawa Akira Award at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, Variety reported on 28 September 2026. Variety said they were chosen by directors Yamada Yoji and Lee Sang-il, cinematographer Ashizawa Akiko and TIFF programming director Ichiyama Shozo. The prize honours lasting contribution to world cinema, Variety reported.
