Trump Announces Plan for $15 Billion Iowa Steel Plant

President Donald Trump announced Sept. 28 a planned $15 billion steel plant in eastern Iowa, which he described as the largest steel plant in American history. Developer Mesabi Metallics, owned by India's Essar Group, plans to start production in 2030 using iron ore from Minnesota. Trump said construction has already begun.
