Mahmood to reopen UK refugee resettlement scheme

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will announce the immediate reopening of the UK Resettlement Scheme. The Home Office said it stopped taking new applicants in December 2024. Ministers said they expect hundreds to arrive in the first phase, via the scheme and new sponsorship routes, where community groups support refugees.
