UK to reopen safe route for refugees

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will announce the UK will immediately reopen its refugee safe route, the UK Resettlement Scheme. The Home Office said it closed to new applicants in December 2024. Ministers said they expect hundreds to arrive at first, through the scheme and new routes where local groups help refugees settle.
