Bogong Moth Swarms Surge Across Coastal NSW

Coastal New South Wales saw surprise bogong moth swarms in late September 2026. Hundreds of sightings clustered in Sydney, Illawarra and the Central Coast were posted to Bogong Watch. Each spring the moths migrate — move seasonally — up to 1,000 km to cool caves in the Australian Alps. Moth Tracker logged more September sightings than in all last year.
