Former Whakatāne mayor wins Eastern Bay council by-election

Former Whakatāne mayor Victor Luca has won the Eastern Bay of Plenty seat on the Bay of Plenty Regional Council in a by-election, a vote held between regular elections. The council confirmed the result on 28 September. The seat was vacant after councillor Malcolm Campbell, 73, died in May. Luca will be sworn in on 12 October.
