Former Whakatāne mayor wins local council vote

Former Whakatāne mayor Victor Luca has won a vote for the Eastern Bay of Plenty seat on the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, which manages the wider region. The council confirmed the result on 28 September. The extra vote was held because councillor Malcolm Campbell, 73, died in May. Luca will be sworn in, or start, on 12 October.
