U.S., China to Extend Tariff Pause Until January, Bessent Says

Treasury Secretary Bessent said the U.S. and China will extend their trade truce, a temporary pause on tariffs, until January. The deal followed a two-day summit in Washington ending Sept. 24 between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, he said. China’s Foreign Ministry said Xi met Trump at the White House that morning.
