The United States lead the International team 3-2 after Thursday's opening fourballs at Medinah Country Club in Illinois, according to BBC Sport. Fourballs means each golfer plays his own ball. Thomas and rookie Koivun won 4&3, Scheffler-Burns and Clark-Morikawa added points before Matsuyama-Hisatsune and Kim-Kim replied.
