Yemen fighting could push displacement to 230,000, UN warns

Displacement from Yemen's latest fighting could rise from over 130,000 to over 230,000, the UN refugee agency UNHCR warned Sept. 22 in Geneva through spokesperson Babar Baloch. The fighting follows the Houthi seizure of Yemen's Red Sea coast earlier in September. Over 5.2 million Yemenis were already internally displaced — forced from home but still inside the country.
