Victoria to Ban New Datacentres Near Homes and Schools

Victoria will block new datacentres — buildings that house computer servers — in residential zones and near schools and childcare centres, with a 150-metre gap from homes. Premier Ben Carroll will release the sustainable datacentre action plan on 22 September after cabinet approval. It also blocks projects in rural areas that cannot support them.
