Canada strikes back with tariffs on C$27.6 billion in U.S. goods

Canada will impose counter-tariffs of 15 to 50 per cent on over 700 U.S. products Sept. 8, 2026, covering C$27.6 billion in imports including dairy, steel and copper. The move responds to U.S. President Trump's 50 per cent tariffs on $28 billion in Canadian goods. Ottawa is also offering support to affected businesses and workers.
