Richard Hughes confirmed as Al-Hilal sporting director after Liverpool departure

Al-Hilal confirmed Richard Hughes as sporting director on 6 September 2026. The 47-year-old oversaw football operations at Liverpool from 2024 — appointing Arne Slot, who won the 2024-25 Premier League title before being sacked and replaced by Andoni Iraola in June 2026. Hughes now joins the Saudi Pro League leaders, managed by Simone Inzaghi.
