Hungary Bans Long-Serving Prime Ministers From Running Again

Hungary's parliament passed a constitutional amendment blocking anyone who served eight or more years as prime minister from running again. The rule applies retroactively to Viktor Orbán, who has led the country since 2010. The opposition Tisza party pushed the change after Orbán's Fidesz party lost its supermajority in April elections. Hungary's Constitutional Court will rule on whether the amendment stands.
