Yashaddai Owens's Bolex-shot Baldwin film 'Jimmy' reaches U.S. audiences after two-year festival-to-release gap

Photographer Yashaddai Owens's directorial debut 'Jimmy,' a 68-minute monochrome portrait of James Baldwin shot on a hand-cranked Bolex 16mm camera, is reaching U.S. audiences nearly two years after its Telluride premiere. Benny O. Arthur plays Baldwin; Paco Andreo composed the jazz score. The film travels through Istanbul and Paris (Variety, 3 August 2026).
