Japan's Parliament Charts Imperial Line Without Female Succession

Japan's Diet approved a cross-party draft June 11 to revise the Imperial House Law through two routes: allowing female family members to retain status after marriage, and readmitting male descendants from 11 collateral branches lost to commoner status in 1947.
