Arnhem Land Clans Bid to Form NT's First New Land Council in 35 Years

Thirteen north-east Arnhem Land clans want to split from the Northern Land Council and form a new Dilak Land Council, the Territory's first in 35 years. Announced at Garma by Yothu Yindi Foundation chair Djawa Yunupingu, it needs Commonwealth legislation. The new statutory body would manage the Gove Peninsula region.
