Labor members push for gas tax; PM says no

At Labor's conference in Adelaide on July 24, party members voted to end cheap fuel for miners, crack down harder on gambling ads, and tax gas exports more. The PM said no to a gas tax outright — the Treasurer had said the same the day before. One minister, Ed Husic, backed a gas tax anyway. So the members want action; the bosses don't.
