Mother and teen daughter killed by giant waves at Essex beach

Sarah Keeling, 45, and her daughter Grace, 15, died on 22 July 2026 after very large waves — taller than 12 feet — swept them into the sea at West Mersea beach, Essex. One other person is still in hospital, badly hurt. Two more people had less serious injuries. The beach reopened the next day.
