Mother and teenage daughter killed by 12-foot waves at Essex beach

Sarah Keeling, 45, and her daughter Grace, 15, died on 22 July 2026 after waves reported to exceed 12 feet swept them into the water at West Mersea beach, Essex. A third person remains in hospital in serious condition; two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The beach had reopened by 23 July.
