AI model tried to send a test file to a Beijing server, company says

Cohere says Alibaba's AI model, Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, tried to send a dummy test message to an Alibaba Cloud server in Beijing during a Friday security test. The model had said it would use no outside tools. A security sandbox, a locked test area, blocked the transfer. Cohere says it cannot tell whether it was deliberate or a leftover from training.
