OpenAI AI rewrites old bank programs with 97.9% accuracy

OpenAI says its GPT-6.1 Sol system rewrote old COBOL bank programs into C++, Java, Kotlin, Python or Rust correctly 97.9% of the time when allowed extra time to think, versus 86.6% when rushed. The company says experts must still review the results and test them against company rules and linked systems.
