OpenAI says GPT-6.1 Sol migrated COBOL programs to C++, Java, Kotlin, Python or Rust with 97.9% accuracy using high reasoning effort, versus 86.6% with low effort. The company says production use still requires expert review and testing against business rules and dependencies.
