Regulator wants to oversee bets on future events

On Oct. 9, 2026, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposed that some bets on future events or prices count as swaps, like regulated financial wagers, and asked for public feedback in Release No. 9310-26. In my view, this draws the line on which prediction-market bets get federal oversight.
