Dangerous Storm Isaias Heading for the Gulf Coast

Millions from Louisiana to Florida faced hurricane alerts Oct. 8 as Isaias approached the northern Gulf Coast. Wind alerts stretched from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to Florida's Bay/Gulf line. Life-threatening flood alerts for seawater pushed inland — storm surge — ran from the Mississippi River mouth to the Suwannee River. Landfall was forecast late Oct. 9 or early Oct. 10.
