Hurricane, storm surge warnings in effect from Mississippi to Florida ahead of Isaias landfall

Millions from Louisiana to Florida were under hurricane warnings Oct. 8 as Hurricane Isaias approached the northern Gulf Coast. Hurricane warnings stretched from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to Florida's Bay/Gulf line; storm surge warnings covered Mississippi River mouth to Suwannee River. Landfall was forecast late Oct. 9 or early Oct. 10, with life-threatening surge expected.
