Isaias Nears Gulf Coast With Hurricane, Surge Warnings in Place

Millions from Louisiana to Florida faced hurricane warnings Oct. 8 as Hurricane Isaias neared the northern Gulf Coast. Hurricane warnings ran from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to Florida's Bay/Gulf line. Storm surge warnings — for life-threatening sea-water rise — stretched from the Mississippi River mouth to the Suwannee River. Landfall was expected late Oct. 9 or early Oct. 10.
