Surprise drug tests for jobseekers
The National Party says people on the Jobseeker benefit would face surprise drug tests to check they are ready for work. Welfare spokesperson Louise Upston announced it in Paraparaumu on 7 October. It would start with 10,000 tests in year one, costing about $1.5 million a year from the welfare ministry's current budget.
