National to drug-test Jobseekers at random
National says people on the Jobseeker Support benefit would face random drug tests to ensure they are ready for work. Social Development spokesperson Louise Upston announced it in Paraparaumu on 7 October. It would start with 10,000 tests in year one, costing about $1.5 million a year from Ministry of Social Development baselines.
