National promises random drug testing for Jobseeker recipients

National has promised random drug testing for Jobseeker Support recipients to ensure they are ready for work. Social Development spokesperson Louise Upston announced the plan in Paraparaumu on 7 October. It would start with 10,000 tests in the first year, costing about $1.5 million a year from Ministry of Social Development baselines.
