Rockpool gathering banned around Auckland and Coromandel

Fisheries Minister Shane Jones has banned people from picking up shellfish and similar sea creatures from rockpools and beaches at low tide on Auckland's east and west coasts, Waiheke Island and Coromandel. He said it came after a review over local disputes about rockpool gathering. He said the ban lasts until it is cancelled.
