Jones bans shore gathering in Auckland, Coromandel indefinitely

Fisheries Minister Shane Jones has banned taking many shellfish and other spineless sea animals from shore areas exposed at low tide on Auckland's east and west coasts, Waiheke Island and Coromandel. He said it followed a review after community concern about rockpool gathering. He said the ban stays until it is lifted.
