Ottawa plans to keep assisted dying closed to mental illness alone

Justice Minister Sean Fraser says Ottawa will introduce a proposed law this fall to rule out doctor-assisted death indefinitely when a person's only serious health issue is mental illness. He said mental-health care is too hard to get. That access is now due to start March 17, 2027.
