Kenso Soai and Henri Kagan won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, announced October 7 by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The award honors how small differences can snowball when molecules help copy themselves. Soai, 76, of Tokyo University of Science, built the first reaction that makes only one hand — left or right — of a molecule pair.
