U.N. Votes to Keep Sudan Investigators Despite Sudan Saying No

On Oct. 6, 2026, the U.N. Human Rights Council, 47 countries monitoring abuses, voted 28-10, with nine not voting, to keep its Sudan investigators. It demanded fighting stop at once with no conditions, plus checks and repairs to basic services. Sudan opposed it, saying its objections were ignored. The army-Rapid Support Forces war began in April 2023.
