
France Holds About 2,000 People After School Protests
About 2,000 people, most of them children, have been held by French police since student protests began, Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin — France's law chief — said. Protests started in Paris and spread to Montpellier, Nantes and Marseille over too few teachers, packed classrooms and crumbling buildings. The question now is how France keeps order while protecting young people's rights.
