Farhadi calls Argo shallow Hollywood business at Rio

Twice Oscar winner Asghar Farhadi told Rio Film Festival audiences Hollywood should not be seen as a source for faithful portrayals of foreign cultures, Variety reported. He called Argo a "Hollywood thing" that is "not deep" and made for money, saying "it is always a white guy from the United States saving others," Variety reported on 3 October 2026.
